You can change your life. You may not realize the latent potential you have to alter your life, but it is there. You may walk in helplessness, complaining about outside forces,- debt, bad relationships, lack of opportunity, uncertainty, fear, etc – while remaining clueless about the power that you already have; the power to change your current reality.
Of this I am sure, holding external elements ( i.e., people and circumstances that seem “unjust and unfair”) accountable for your degree of internal happiness is a frivolous waste of time. No amount of external praise, approval, or recognition will fill your emotional tank. If you rely on external fuels to act as long-lasting and durable resources of creating happiness and change in your life, your tank will always be just shy of empty. So, if nothing external can make you happy and create meaningful and sustainable change, then what does?
You and you alone are the single most important factor that determines how happy you are. Yes, money can make your life easier; it allows for indulgences in life that would otherwise be unattainable. But money ‘s impact is temporary and doesn’t fill your soulful bowl up with happiness, peace of mind or love.
There is one thing and one thing alone that can totally change your life. It isn’t winning the lottery, landing that perfect job, or having the car of your dreams. In fact, the single most important thing that can change your life comes from the inside and you are in full control of it, have full access to it, and have free will over it, 100% of the time ; your thoughts. Thoughts make things. How and what you think make up the foundation of the condition of your life.
Swami Vivekananda, a revered Indian saint who lived over 100 years ago, wrote the following:
“All the powers in the Universe are already ours.
It is we who have put our hands before our eyes
and cry that it is dark.
We are what our thoughts have made us;
so take care about what you think.
Words are secondary.
Thoughts live; they travel far.
When an idea exclusively occupies the mind;
it is transformed into an actual physical or
We reap what we sow.
We are the makers of our own fate.
None else has the blame. None else has the praise.
There is no help for you outside of yourself;
you are the creator of the universe.
Like the silkworm
you have built a cocoon around yourself…
Burst your own cocoon
and come out as the beautiful butterfly,
as the free soul
Then alone you will see the Truth.
In one word, the ideal is that you are divine.
God sits in the temple of everybody.”
What this lesson teaches us is that you have he power within you that is far superior to any situation or circumstance around you- you have free will over what you want to think. And these are the very thoughts that are in charge of directing the power of whatever you choose in your lifetime. Think of your thoughts as the vehicles that move you towards your goals. Add emotions to your thoughts (the fuel that powers the vehicle) and end up with attracting the very things that you set your thoughts upon. It’s that simple. When you think positively you feel positively and therefore, draw more positive things into your life.
According to Wallace Wattles, to change your life so that you invite richness into it, you must take the following steps:
1. You must form a clear and definite mental picture of what you want. (Focus your attention only on the thoughts on the changes you want in your life.)
2. Behind the clear vision must be the purpose to realize it.
3. Behind this purpose must be an invincible and unwavering FAITH that the thing is already yours and you have only to take possession of it.
4. Be grateful and thankful for it all the time as you expect to be when it has taken form.
Remember that it is faith and purpose, in the use of the imagination, which make the difference between the dreamer and the one who brings his dreams to life.
In love and light,
